SEOUL – LG Electronics continues to increase its R&D investment in Vietnam. Its business scope has now expanded from software development to various fields including home appliance solutions, covering lifestyle, kitchen and air solutions.

In 2016, LG Electronics established the Hanoi R&D Center in Vietnam, which is under the management of its Vietnam Production Company, and in 2023 established R&D branches in Hai Phong and Da Nang.

The Hanoi R&D Center was officially registered and established in 2023. In 2022, the center’s research scope was expanded to the webOS smart platform, and now its R&D scope has been further expanded.

This year, LG plans to increase its R&D team from 1,100 to more than 1,200 people, having increased the center’s headcount sixfold since 2019.

In the eight years since its establishment, the Hanoi R&D Center has grown into a key R&D hub in Southeast Asia.

In addition, LG Electronics has implemented a number of talent development programs, including cooperation with Hanoi University of Technology, to enhance local R&D capabilities.
