Vietnam, Canada deepen partnership

To promote cooperation and connections between the two countries, the Vietnam Trade Representative Office in Canada participated in the 2024 International Investment Promotion Exhibition (MIBIExpo) held in Montreal.

Hanoi – The Vietnam Trade Representative Office in Canada actively participates in the 2024 International Investment Promotion Exhibition (MIBIExpo) held in Montreal to promote cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

As an important platform for promoting trade and commerce between Canada and other countries in the world, this year’s MIBIExpo is committed to establishing mutually beneficial partnerships. The exhibition focuses on five major areas: business investment, real estate, immigration, education and tourism.

Vietnam’s goal in participating in this exhibition is to make full use of the existing free trade agreement between the two countries and the upcoming ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement to build a complete cooperation ecosystem.

In an interview with VNA reporters, Tran Thu Dinh, Trade Counselor of Vietnam in Canada, said that this is the first time that the Vietnam Trade Representative Office has participated in an overseas industrial and energy investment promotion exhibition.

She further pointed out that Vietnam hopes to attract partners with complementary advantages under the framework of the free trade agreement through this exhibition.

Counselor Chen stressed that Vietnam and Canada have complementary advantages in relevant fields and can achieve optimization and mutual assistance in production processes and supply chains. Vietnam hopes that through the 2024 MIBIExpo, more French-speaking investors will discover business opportunities in Vietnam.

Aleph Salem, a city councillor in the Saint-Laurent district of Montreal, said the forum built a bridge between Montreal companies and Vietnamese partners, noting that Montreal is the gateway to North America, while Vietnam is an important channel to Southeast Asia.

Salem praised Vietnam’s significant economic growth momentum and market potential, and suggested that Montreal companies consider expanding into the Vietnamese market. Given that Asian business culture values building mutual trust, such forums can help enhance mutual understanding and trust.

Currently, Vietnam and Montreal have established direct shipping links through the Hai Phong Port, which will significantly promote the development of logistics and supply chains. As a multicultural city, Montreal has unique advantages in promoting business cooperation.

Vietnam’s participation in this exhibition will not only open up new opportunities for expanding business investment cooperation with the Montreal area, but will also further strengthen trade ties between Vietnam and Canada and the entire North American region.
