Foxconn invests $80 million to expand chip manufacturing base in Bac Giang province

Foxconn-owned Suntech Vietnam is applying for an environmental license for its $80 million chip manufacturing project in Bac Giang province.

Foxconn subsidiary Sunshine Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. is currently applying for an environmental permit for its chip manufacturing and processing investment project in Bac Giang Province, with a total investment of US$80 million.

The project is located in Guangzhou Industrial Park, with a planned land area of 44,343.8 square meters.

According to the plan, the factory will focus on the production of electronic components, mainly integrated circuit boards, with an annual production capacity of 4.5 million pieces. All products will be sold to overseas markets such as the United States, the European Union and Japan.

According to an environmental impact assessment report currently being reviewed by the Ministry of Investment and Planning, Shunxin will raise $20 million on its own, and the remaining $60 million (75% of the total investment) will be solved through loans and fundraising.

Shunxin plans to complete various approval procedures, including construction permits, by December this year, and then start factory construction and equipment installation, which is expected to last until May 2026.

The project is scheduled to enter the trial operation phase in June 2026 and is expected to be fully operational in December 2026.

The company said it will use advanced closed production technology, which has been successfully applied in its Chinese factories. The production line will be highly automated, use advanced technology, and provide employees with comprehensive safety measures to ensure stable production and improved efficiency.

The project is expected to create approximately 1,450 jobs, including 35 foreign experts, when it is fully operational.

As the world’s largest manufacturer of electronic and computer components, Foxconn, headquartered in Taiwan, China, is continuing to expand its investment in Vietnam.

The major supplier to Apple entered the Vietnamese market in March 2007, initially setting up factories in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, and later expanding its business to Quang Ninh.
