Vietnam’s National Day Holiday Tourism Revenue Reaches Approximately $90 Million

Vietnam recently celebrated a four-day National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3. According to data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), this holiday period brought significant growth and considerable revenue to Vietnam’s tourism industry.

Nationwide, Vietnam’s tourism industry received approximately 3 million visitors during this holiday period, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure reflects the strong recovery momentum of Vietnam’s tourism industry and demonstrates the continued popularity of Vietnamese destinations among domestic and international tourists.

Among the many tourist destinations, Hanoi, as the capital of Vietnam, performed exceptionally well. The Hanoi tourism industry reported that during these four days of holiday, the city’s total tourism revenue reached 22 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately $89.4 million). This figure is second only to Ho Chi Minh City’s 30 trillion dong, highlighting Hanoi’s position as a key tourist destination.

Specifically in terms of visitor numbers, Hanoi received about 672,900 tourists during this holiday, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, this included 58,900 international visitors, a 35.8% increase from the previous year. This significant growth reflects the rapidly recovering interest of international tourists in Hanoi.

Looking at the country as a whole, the regions most chosen by foreign tourists include:

  • Da Nang: received 91,000 visitors, a 15.3% increase from last year.
  • Hanoi: received 58,900 visitors, a 35.8% increase.
  • Khanh Hoa Province: received 48,000 visitors.
  • Ho Chi Minh City: received 38,800 visitors, a 3.2% year-on-year increase.
  • Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province: received 25,560 visitors.

These data indicate that Vietnam’s major cities and well-known tourist destinations performed excellently in attracting international visitors, with Hanoi and Da Nang showing particularly significant growth rates. In terms of tourism revenue, apart from the outstanding performance of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, other regions also achieved considerable results:

  • Da Nang: revenue reached 1.2 trillion Vietnamese dong.
  • Quang Ninh Province: revenue reached 1 trillion Vietnamese dong.

During this holiday period, the average accommodation occupancy rate across Vietnam reached 56%, an increase of 1.85% compared to the same period last year. The healthy competition among major cities and tourist destinations also drove the development of the entire industry. The excellent performance of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and other places in attracting tourists and generating revenue not only promoted local economic development but also set examples for other regions.
