Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam recently signed Decision No. 1019 (1019/QĐ-TTg), approving the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group’s (VNPT) development strategy until 2030, vision for 2035, and operational and investment development plans through 2025.
Key Objectives and Development Directions
VNPT aims to become a state-owned economic group with international competitiveness. It will focus on digital infrastructure, technology, and services while fulfilling public service responsibilities and supporting national development and security.
VNPT plans to develop core technologies in areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and blockchain. Concurrently, the company will research new technological applications for broadband internet.
Telecommunications Technology Development
Building on its existing 4G network, VNPT will develop 5G infrastructure and increase infrastructure sharing with other operators. Notably, VNPT plans to lead research into 6G technology, aiming to position Vietnam among the first countries to deploy 6G.
Digital Services and Solutions
VNPT will offer solutions based on intelligent cloud platforms, integrating AI, big data, blockchain, and AR/VR/MR/XR technologies. By 2025, VNPT plans to transition from a traditional telecommunications business to a technology enterprise.
Long-term Development Goals
- 2030: Become a smart, efficient digital technology enterprise, entering regional and international markets.
- 2035: Provide a comprehensive ecosystem of products and services for all customers, becoming a leading network service provider in Vietnam and the region.
Financial Targets
- By 2025, VNPT aims to achieve total revenue of 287.9 trillion VND, total profit of 30.8 trillion VND, and contribute 26 trillion VND to the state budget.
Specific Business Objectives
- VNPT plans to achieve the following objectives by 2025:
- 10 million FTTx fixed broadband network users
- 98% 4G/5G population coverage
- Become the primary cloud computing service provider for government agencies
- Become Vietnam’s leading multi-platform provider
