Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has announced that the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition 2024 aims to strengthen connectivity between Europe and Vietnam, promote trade and investment cooperation, and contribute to the implementation of the National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030.
The event, scheduled for October 21-23 in Ho Chi Minh City, is jointly organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and the Trade Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Under the theme “Building a Green Future,” discussions will focus on solutions promoting sustainable development, including climate change resilience, green finance digital transformation, and sustainable energy transition. These topics are crucial for Vietnam to achieve its COP26 commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050.
H.E. Julien Guerrier, Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, highlighted that the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU brings numerous opportunities for businesses on both sides. He emphasized the EU’s willingness to assist Vietnam in creating a more environmentally friendly future.
At the press conference on September 24, EuroCham Chairman Gabor Fluit expressed his belief that the event will provide an excellent platform for dialogue between government leaders, businesses, and international organizations on addressing climate change. It also presents an opportunity for European companies to showcase advanced solutions to help Vietnam achieve sustainable development.
Notably, the forum and exhibition come at a time when Vietnam is experiencing severe impacts of climate change. Recently, Super Typhoon Koinu caused a tragic loss of over 350 lives, with many still missing. This backdrop underscores the importance and urgency of the event.
Through this event, Vietnam hopes to strengthen cooperation with Europe in the green economy sector while advancing its own sustainable development strategy and contributing to global climate change mitigation efforts.
